PS5 DualSense controller can also work with Microsoft Windows 10 (with a few loss of features). You can also have the DualSense work with non-Steam games if you are willing to try out some third-party apps to help the controller 🎮 connect.

How to Pair Your PS5 Controller to Windows 10 PC

With Bluetooth or USB cable, you can easily connect your PS5 DualSense controller to your PC.

Connecting via Bluetooth is relatively easy, however, the controller's Bluetooth connection is not the best, so we highly recommend you connect the controller to your computer via USB.

To begin pairing, plug the USB cable into your computer and the top of the DualSense controller. Wait for a few seconds for Windows to detect the controller - it will work if the controller's LED lights around the touchpad light up.

To know if the connection is successful, press the Windows key, type "Control Panel"  and then hit Enter to launch the controller panel app.

Click on "Devices and Printers"  from the Control Panel.

Under " Devices", the DualSense controller will appear as a wireless controller.

Next, you will want to check if Windows 10 has added the DualSense controller as an audio device before continuing to Steam - a common occurrence when further pairing the controller.

To check this, go to "Settings", click on " System", then on "Sound".

Click on "Manage Sound Devices".

On your computer screen, you will likely see that the DualSense controller is both an input and output Device.

Click on the Device and choose disable for both instances, and Windows 10 will no longer default to the DualSense controller as an audio device.

Configuring the PS5 Controller for Steam

Normally, steam automatically recognizes the DualSense controller and swaps action and game control accordingly, if something is not working, these are the easiest ways to troubleshoot.

Open the Steam app, click the icon in the upper left corner, and choose "Settings".

In the next window sidebar (controller tab), click the controller tab and you will be able to see the information the app has on your PS5 DualSense controller.

If it's listed as a "DualSense Wireless Controller", then everything should perfectly work with Steam!

Having issues? However, check to see if the "PlayStation (PS) controller Support" setting is set to " Enable in Games w/o support ".

To configure the DualSense controller for Steam, click the "Open" button next to "Calibration and Advanced Settings ".

A new menu will open, and you can adjust the PS5 DualSense controller LED lights, the joystick, and dead zone, the rumble output, and calibrate the gyro controls.

Now, you can check a game in your library to see if the game supports a controller in general and if it supports DualSense 5. Use the controller section to the right to check.
